Bertrand

Tavernier

Bertrand Tavernier (1941–2021) was a French filmmaker, screenwriter, and critic. He began his career as a publicist and film journalist, writing for publications such as Cahiers du cinéma and Positif. In the early 1970s, he transitioned to directing, making his feature debut with The Clockmaker of St. Paul (1974), which won the Silver Bear in Berlin.
